As a used car dealer it is super important to set the right price and understand the market quickly. To help meet this need, FINN offers a powerful insights tool, Diagnoseporten, which provides invaluable data about competition, demand, and market trends. But what’s the point of having this tool, if the users don’t use it because it’s too demanding, hard to remember and disrupts your workflow?

With mini boxes from Diagnoseporten in the FINN feeds we were able to meet the users where they are, when they are there, with relevant market data for the job they are currently doing.
Meeting the customers where they are
In this project our goal was to better meet small car dealers with market insights about the used car market. We have a powerful tool to help them understand the market they are operating in, but they are not using it. Why? This we needed to find out.
Through user interviews we quickly learned they are busy people with little time to explore a heavy insights tool, and saw the need to curate insights for specific jobs to be done, and present this on the user journey when they need it. As owners of FINN, where they spend most of their time, we figured; why not present it here?
Continous Discovery
We kept in constant touch with the dealers throughout the full process, from interviews to concept testing to prototype testing of the solution. The result is a mini box with the exact data they need, in the exact placement where they need it!
Choosing the right visualization
It is not just the data that needs to be relevant, but also how we present it. Many variations were explored, tested and reiterated until it was fast and easy to understand how to use it.
Results
By adding aggregated statistics, relevant ones that are easy to act on, we were able to meet the user where they were in their busy life, helping them learn and remember our tool, and become more active users of data driven decisions, confident in pricing cars in an ever-changing used car market.
The results are proving we did something right: Less people cancel their subscription, and more people started actively using our insights tool through our mini boxes:
–12% decrease of churn | +63% increase of active users
And most importantly, we made it easier for the dealers to do their job!
